How Lasik Surgery Has Changed the Lives of Artists, Athletes and the Average Joe Working His Job

A large percentage of people need help with their Davis vision whether it is by wearing corrective lenses in the form of glasses or by wearing a variety of different kinds of contact lenses. This has been the only way to create perfect eyesight, by using a lens in front of the eye to see more clearly. One of the biggest medical advances that have happened over the last 15 years is the introduction of an eye surgery known as Lasik. This is a quick outpatient procedure that does not hurt and gives the patient perfect vision never having to wear corrective lenses or eye med VSP again. This surgery has been life changing to so many people and this article will touch on just some of those people it has really helped.

The creative and performing arts hold a lot of people that are passionate about doing their specific type of art. When it comes to the performing arts, however, it is important to not only be good at the artistic talent, but it is important to look a certain way too. This is especially true for actors on movies as well as those performing in a theatre. Typically, glasses are not worn by actors that are performing unless it is part of the character so the only other option has been contact lenses. Because actors that shoot movies are usually there working extremely long 16 and even 18 hour days, contact lenses can get uncomfortable and irritated when worn so long. With the Lasik surgery, this problem is solved.

For people that enjoy athletics and for professional athletes, good vision is a must for their profession. Wearing glasses is difficult and many times not allowed in various sports so like, performing artists, the only option has been contact lenses. There are however, some sports where contact lenses do not work either and that is in water sports. Water polo players and synchronized swimmers do not wear goggles and contact lenses can not get wet, which leaves a person who has poor vision in a predicament for their sport. With the Lasik surgery, they now can see well to play their sports and not worry about water hurting their eyes with contacts in.

Certain jobs also need especially sharp eyesight and some also require wearing special protective eyewear. Having the Lasik surgery would be helpful to those people that work hard physically and need to wear protective eyewear and may also sweat quite a bit like those in construction, highway engineering or tree cutting businesses. Not having to worry about your eye getting irritated or having blurry vision while at work is essential to getting the job done as well as staying safe doing it.

With so many medical advances that continue to change the lives of people today, Lasik surgery certainly ranks at the top of that list. Unfortunately, though not everyone is a good candidate for the surgery and this is something that scientists and doctors are continually trying to change.
