Dr. Thomas Tooma of NVISION Laser Eye Centers, formerly a part of TLC Laser Eye Centers, announced today that NVISION has opened its ninth location in Murrieta.
"NVISION Murrieta is led by two of the most experienced LASIK eye surgeons in Southern California -- Dr. Max Parikh and Dr. Richard Burns," said Dr. Tooma. "NVISION Murrieta is the only facility in the Temecula Valley to offer all-laser LASIK, which is the most advanced treatment in laser vision correction today."
Dr. Parikh is the San Diego Chargers Official Team Ophthalmologist and former medical director at Advanced Ophthalmology Institute. Dr. Parikh knows the importance of precision in LASIK procedures having performed more than 12,000 LASIK surgeries.

On September 1, 2010, Medical Director Dr. Thomas Tooma purchased interest in eight TLC Vision Centers to become a separate LASIK brand. The new brand now operates as NVISION Laser Eye Centers and has the same surgeons, staff and locations in La Jolla, Palm Desert, Ontario, Fullerton, Newport Beach, Laguna Hills, Torrance, and Camarillo.
To find out more about the new NVISION Murrieta location, please contact Kate Crosby, Director of Refractive Services, at 951-696-1135, ext. 220. A formal grand opening for the new NVISION Murrieta location is slated for January 29, 2011.

Local clinic offers bladeless eye surgery
By Zach Whitney
MOSCOW - Going under the knife can cause apprehension, especially when it involves your eyes. But a new bladeless technology is helping people see more clearly.
When some hear the words 'LASIK surgery,' visions of blades slicing eyes come to mind. But at Clearview Eye Clinic, a new technology called Intralase is helping patients see: blade free.
"Intralase is particularly special," said Dr. David Leach. "It's a laser that's designed just to make the flap. It helps me as a surgeon to truly customize the flap for the patient."
The procedure works through slight pressure on the eye and tiny air pockets just below the surface create a customized flap that can be folded right back after the LASIK procedure. The entire process often takes less than 30 seconds.
"Any surgical procedure has risks and we understand that of course. But as a surgeon, I want to become more effective with my technology and safer," said Leach. "Two goals for new technology. Intralase fits that bill perfectly. With Intralase there's no moving parts, nothing sharp, cutting the eye, not a laser burning the eye, nothing like that."
Leach said the absence of blades makes the technology 25 times more effective and safer. And that makes it a little more desirable.
"I've had a couple incidents where I've lost my glasses skiing," said LASIK patient Steven Reitz. "Then I'm groping around on the ground looking for my glasses. I just feel disabled without them."
Reitz said he's been considering LASIK surgery for years, and the no blade technology has helped him feel better about getting it.
"I've actually been putting this off for about 10 or 12 years waiting for things to get a little more refined," said Reitz. "So I think we're kind of at that point where I think they've refined it well enough where I feel comfortable with the level of risk."
Leach said the technology allows them to customize the procedure to the patient rather than telling the patient they are not able to have the surgery. A screening is still required, but Leach said a lot more people now have the option of improving their eyesight.
"There are some folks who have been told they're not good candidates for LASIK because they're corneas are too thin. We can often overcome that problem with the Intralase laser, because of its unique ability to make a truly customized flap."
Leach said the future of LASIK is all about speed, and he only sees it getting faster. The recovery is quick too, as some patients head to work the next day.

New laser eye treatment gives patients 'super-vision'
Two-fifths of patients undergoing a new laser eye treatment end up with "super-vision", it was claimed yesterday.
The revolutionary new technique at the Z-LASIK clinic in London boasts a 100pc success rate at correcting short sightedness to 20/20 "normal" levels.
But in 40pc of cases, patients are said to go home with 20/12 "super-vision".
They can read small letters on a vision chart as well from 20ft as most people can from 12.
20/12 is close to the 20/10 physical limit where it is impossible to see better given the number of light sensitive cells in the eye.
At this point, known as "ultimate vision", a person's eyesight is twice as good as "normal".
Research based on 307 patients attending the clinic over the past 12 months showed that 95pc were given vision better than 20/20.
LASIK uses light from a "cool" laser to reshape the front surface of the eye. The newer version of the treatment, Z-LASIK, employs two lasers and computer technology to remove a microscopic layer of corneal tissue in less than 20 seconds.
The treatment costs £1,500 per eye.

“GIFT of SIGHT CONTEST”: Win a Free LASIK with Dr. Gulani
In celebration of receiving national recognition among Top Ophthalmologists in America, Gulani Vision Institute has announced its “Gift of Sight contest” in which it will give the gift of LASIK to the winner of a nationwide video contest starting this week.
We can appreciate the amazing life change that LASIK can offer. We would like to give back to a deserving person from all over the country who can send in a compelling video of one minute duration (This can be simply done even with your cell phone) explaining why they or their loved one deserves Free LASIK with Dr. Gulani.
Dr. Gulani has raised Lasik Laser Vision and Cataract surgery to an ART and using his newly introduced specialty- Corneoplastique(TM), he designs Vision corrective surgery uniquely to each individual eye. Using Laser or Lens based surgeries or even combinations therein, he has achieved visions of 20/15 and 20/10 in numerous patients.
Lasik, Custom Lasik, iLasik, Bladeless Lasik, Lasek, SBK, ASA and PRK are all forms of Laser Vision Surgeries. These surgeries effectively reshape the cornea so nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism can be corrected.
Lens based surgeries including Multifocal, progressive lens implants like crystalens, restor, toric, rezoom and technis have raised the bar on cataract surgery by allowing people to see clearly as well as address their presbyopia and thereby see in the distance and read up close without any glasses.
While some nominees may not otherwise be able to afford LASIK, others may have stories of efforts to reach admirable and inspiring goals that would be best achieved with clear, unhampered vision.
To participate in this contest, you shall need to submit a video of One minute duration that portrays and explains why you deserve the Free LASIK surgery. This video needs to be uploaded to our Facebook page.
Details and rules for this contest along with guidelines are posted on Channel 4 website (http://www.news4jax.com/contests/25999102/detail.html) under category “Contest”.
This contest starts this week and shall end on December 16th. The videos will be reviewed by a dedicated panel of judges and the winner will be announced on the 21st of December at 12:30pm during a Live webcast.
We wish you all the very best and look forward to gifting a deserving person a New Vision for the New Year!

Definitions of Doctors and Eye Specialists
- Ophthalmologists are medical doctors who are eye specialists. They must complete 4 years of medical school, a 1-year internship and at least a 3-year residency. They are also qualified as eye surgeons.
- The eye doctor who examines your eyes for visual health is generally an optometrist. They can prescribe contacts and eyeglasses. Optometrists must complete 4 years of post-graduate optometry school and some will advance to residency in specialized eye care.
- An optician is not a doctor but is usually licensed by the state. They fit and sell eyeglasses that meet an optometrists or ophthalmologists prescription. Some train to fit contacts, as well.
Most ophthalmologists seek additional training beyond their Medical Doctorate. It is important to choose a doctor with strong experience using laser systems for corrective surgery. The most common laser choice for LASIK surgeons in the United States is the VISX laser because the laser provides active tracking during the surgery. LASIK surgeons combine that with a custom treatment that matches your eyes unique needs.
The FDA regulates the sale of medical devices used to perform LASIK surgeries and provide a list of FDA-approved lasers upon request. It is good to ask what laser your surgeon uses and how many successful surgeries have been performed using this equipment. Doctors attend a course specific to the particular laser from the manufacturer.
Consult your LASIK surgeon about their qualifications and technology prior to making any commitment. The American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) provides certification and The American Board of Eye Surgeons (ABES) provides procedure-specific certification for eye surgeons. The ABES also offers a peer-reviewed certification for LASIK.

LASIK most effective in correcting astigmatism at corneal plane
LASIK proved markedly more effective in treating corneal astigmatism than treating noncorneal ocular residual astigmatism, or ORA, a study found.
"If it is less efficacious to treat astigmatism with an anterior corneal-confined procedure, such as LASIK, in eyes with significant ORA, it may be important to identify such cases preoperatively," the study authors said. "The results suggest that treating astigmatism with LASIK based on manifest refraction results in a successful outcome only if the preoperative refractive astigmatism arises primarily from the anterior corneal surface."
The retrospective study included 61 eyes of 61 patients; 30 patients had low ORA and 31 patients had high ORA.
Results showed that 75% of preoperative refractive astigmatism was successfully treated in the low-ORA group and 50% of refractive astigmatism was treated in the high-ORA group. The difference was statistically significant (P = .036).
Correction of noncorneal astigmatism can also be problematic for cataract patients, the authors said.
"Perhaps the best approach to the management of astigmatism in a cataract surgery patient is to balance the treatment based on the cornea and the ORA. Further work in this area is needed," they said.

What Are the Side Effects of Lasik Surgery and How Common Are They?
You have this eye problem for years and you want to get rid of it. That is why you are planning to have a Lasik surgery so that you will have a fast and effective outcome as what the doctors or other people are trying to say. But before taking the action you should also put to consideration the saying, "nothing is perfect." This saying or quotation does not only apply to people it also apply to everything in this universe, except of course to the word and the source of this everything. So it applies in Lasik eye surgery.
The surgery lives of thousands of people but it also it end up others dream to see a better world. Where do you want to belong? Of course you want to belong to the better recovery right? What if fate chooses you not to be that lucky? These are considerations that you need to ponder. Here are the possible side affects that might occur after the Lasik surgery:
Over Correction or under Correction
Not all who are undergoing this kind of surgery will respond greatly and perfectly. There are some after the surgery; the doctor still recommends them to wear corrective lenses. There are also others who are prescribed for a higher eye surgery because Lasik surgery is not compatible with them.
Infection of the eye
Laser treatment or surgery offers a very low risk of having eye infection but does not guarantee of a hundred percent risk free from it. Infection of the eye is one of the side effects that you will expect because eyes are naturally sensitive.
Halo in the eye effect
This will be experience by the patients after the operation. Probably two to three days of night he will be seeing hallow. It is because of the peripheral cornea that is not treated. If you are experiencing it for a week or more than it, consult your doctor immediately. You might have a big trouble if you will just let it. Avoid also driving any vehicle for a week after the operation. This will avoid you from accidents that might be caused of the halo effect.
Loss of flap
In the surgery, a flap tissue is created in the cornea. This flap might come out from the eye if the patient will be injured or if he touched his eye surgery within twenty four hours. This coming out within the twenty four hours after the surgery might caused some eye trouble. It is advisable to be in a safe place to avoid injury and always have somebody, probably a nurse or doctor to be safe, to fix the plasters that covers your eye.
Dryness of the eye
This is the condition that enables the eye not to produce tears that will keep the eye clean and moist. People having this side effect suffer a burning sensation or inflammation of the eye. The doctors prescribed this type of patients to have an eye drop treatment. The above side effects are only some of the side effects a Lasik surgery might do to you. So, it is necessary not only to think twice but also several times if you are really willing to get on the risk.

What Should Be Noticed For LASIK Eye Surgery?
LASIK eye surgery is one of the most widely accepted methods to treat myopia. However, if the receivers have worn glasses or contact lenses for a very long time, they should consult with their eye doctors before receiving the surgery. Though the surgery will cost much, the insurance companies will cover some part.
Cornea is the main target of LASIK eye surgery. During the procedure, a cut will be made on the cornea and some damaged tissues will be removed. Therefore, this surgery should be finished by those surgeons who have done many successful LASIK cases. A good surgeon can avoid many accidents.
The cut will be healed quickly after the surgery. It will be recovered completely within one week. However, there are also some complications, though rare. Some receivers will suffer from eye infections which will prolong the recovery time. Or the correction is not accurate and some receivers have to wear lenses or glasses after the surgery consequently.
Those surgeries are really price to value, though expensive. Generally, receivers have to pay $500 to $2500 for each eye. And those well-experienced surgeons with high successes rate will lead to less medical accidents. Of course, the best surgeon will charge much higher, but it is really worth.
Generally, the cost of the surgery are composed of several parts, including, the cost for the operating equipments; the cost for consultation; the cost for other surgical instruments; pay for surgeons and other staffs; cost for maintaining equipments, etc.

Crystal Clear Vision With LASIK Surgery - It is Possible
Visual aids such as glasses or contacts can be prohibitive and thus individuals may choose to undergo laser surgery to remedy their visual impairments. Laser surgery improves your vision by modifying the shape of the cornea, hence improving your vision. The surgical procedure to improve your eyesight is commonly referred to as Lasik. Good surgeons have extensive experience performing the latest procedures used in laser eye surgery.
Ideal Candidate for Lasik
To perform Lasik, surgeons require that the candidate is at least 18 years old. Typically, after a person reaches 18, there are no changes or developments in the eye and therefore no complications are expected due to changes in the candidate's vision. The best results usually occur for persons who experience moderate impairments-candidates with severe impairments may require additional surgeries before the best results can be achieved. Additionally it is crucial that the candidate's eyes are healthy so as to avoid complications and compromised results. Candidates who are pregnant and candidates who are taking prescriptions such as oral prednisone or acutance are not the best candidates for Lasik.
The Procedure
It takes a mere 15 minutes per eye for the surgeon to complete Lasik and the surgery is typically performed on an outpatient basis. A drop is placed on the surface of the eye to numb the eye before the surgery begins. No other anesthetics are used. Using a microkeratome, the surgeon cuts a corneal flap from the eyeball. The corneal tissue is reshaped with a laser and the flap which acts as its own bandage is replaced on the eyeball
Recovery Period
Although the patient may experience blurriness immediately after the surgery there is usually no pain. Additionally, the patient's eyes may burn and itch after Lasik. Good surgeons encourage their patients to keep their hands away from the eyes and to avoid rubbing the eyes as the corneal patch needs time to heal and may be dislodged if the patient rubs the eye. Follow ups are typically scheduled within days of the surgery so that the surgeon can ensure that the eye is healing appropriately.

LASIK Technology and Its Role in Eyesight Treatment
One of the many key strengths of modern medicine is the breakthroughs in surgical practices that have been discovered over the years. The development of Laser surgery clearly falls in this group. Laser surgeries are common practices in many hospitals today. As the name correctly suggests, surgeries of this description are carried out with the use of a laser instead of scalpel. Commonly referred to as LASIK (Laser assisted in situ keratomileusis), laser surgeries allow the correction of many of the traditional eye problems. People who suffer from, astigmatism, hyperopia or myopia can now have these corrected. Unfortunately, the cost of LASIK eye surgery tends to be expensive. Consequently as a result of the high LASIK eye cost, many people simply choose to remain with their glasses or contacts for as long as their problem remains. An alternative solution to this problem is to consider purchasing insurance policies that offer this coverage plan.
This allows people to benefit from significant discounts to the amount that they otherwise would have paid. Although, efforts are constantly being to reduce the high cost of LASIK surgeries, current prices still remain out of the reach of most people.
During laser surgeries, the laser is focused on the exposed eye. Its actions can be directed on either the Iris (the colored region of the eye), the pupil or the cornea. Most laser operations are however usually focused on the last region, the cornea of the eye. For example, reducing the thickness of the cornea in the people suffering from short sightedness is normally enough to cure the condition. Laser surgeries are typically painless and most times the patient can remain awake and active during the surgery. However, because most people might be prone to bouts of nervousness, a mild sedative is sometimes given.
Although laser surgeries can be done on anyone, there are certain scenarios where a person might be disqualified for an operation. People who are suffering from conditions such as diabetes, arthritis or going through the motions of pregnancy might sometimes be found ineligible for surgery. Laser surgery is also reserved for people with severe eyesight problem. People who have eye conditions that can be addressed with a few weeks of physical therapy are often not encouraged to go in for surgery.
Like every known medical procedure, there are some side effects to a surgery. While patients will not feel any pain after the surgery, they might suffer from being too sensitive to light for a while. This condition is completely normal and typically fades after the first two weeks. Drugs are rarely prescribed as a means of combating post operation effects. In extremely rare cases however, patients might be required to return for another laser procedure.
Laser eye surgeries have grown in popularity. It is estimated that more than a million Americans go in for this type of surgery during the year. Laser surgeries are very complicated and delicate events. It is therefore important that people only use the services of surgeons that are well qualified.
Connor R. Sullivan has been researching the cost of Lasik since he is considering having the procedure to improve his eyesight. He has found the cost of Lasik eye surgery as become more affordable over the past few years.

Intralase - Bladeless Lasik Eye Surgery
The newest technology in LASIK eye surgery, bladeless surgery called Intralase is available. For the people that refuse to go under the knife for LASIK eye surgery, a new leaf has been turned. Forget about the glasses or contacts, and turn back the hands of time without facing the worry of having a blade inserted into your cornea. Instead of the chances of a blade creating an uneven cut on the cornea, Intralase has a laser beam that creates bubble-pockets precisely in the cornea that are easily separated.
For about $350 to $650 more than regular LASIK eye surgery performed with the blade, or microkeratome. Regular surgery performed with the microkeratone is already priced at around $2000 per eye. So, with a few hundred dollars more, the qualified candidate for LASIK eye surgery can have the fancy technology performed on their eyes.
If you're thinking that your insurance company is going to pay for this surgery, though, you may be sadly mistaken. Most insurance companies will not cover LASIK eye surgery of any type because it is considered an "elective surgery". Some insurance companies will pay for parts of the procedures if the medical situation is within their parameters for exclusion. A quick call to member services will answer these questions for you.
Intralase brags that recovery time is a great deal shorter then regular LASIK surgery. It also claims that patients will feel, at most, "slight pressure" during the procedure, whereas regular LASIK surgery can be painful and require medication for a few days after the surgery. Knowing this, people deciding whether or not to get the surgery can breathe a lot easier.
As if there aren't enough positive reasons to get Intralase surgery, the surgery itself takes only ten minutes to perform. Considering the delicate nature of the procedure, ten minutes of surgery on the eye without blades is not situation to face for better sight for years to come.
Patients who have had the bladeless surgery on their eyes have reviewed the surgical procedure in positive light. There are even "test" patients who had one surgery on one eye and the other surgery performed on the other eye. The results revealed that the eye with the Intralase healed faster, and functioned superior overall. It's no wonder nearly a million patients have had this surgical procedure done already.
Bladeless surgery for the eyes is a no-brainer as far I am concerned. If you're going to pay $2000 for surgery on just one eye, what's the extra $350 to $650 to ensure the procedure is done without a blade? If finances are the main focus, keep in mind that you're also paying for a safer procedure with safer instruments. Is there are a price you would pay for a pain-free surgery and shorter recovery? Plain and simple, the benefits of Intralase over regular LASIK eye surgery is worth the "extra" amount of money you will spend on Intralase.

Lasik Surgery, Setting a Standard With CRSQA
Lasik surgery has been a blessing to many folks who've been helped by correcting their vision problems.
If you've been thinking about laser surgery and have been concerned about the results you may get, you'll be happy to discover there's a new group that has set-up guidelines which their members must meet to become and stay certified.
Setting a standard is good for you and the doctors that participate...
The Council for Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance (CRSQA) holds Lasik surgeons accountable for their results, and helps assure you member doctors are meeting those high standards.
Lasik surgeons are ophthalmologists who have been specially trained and certified to perform the laser procedure. After they've been certified to do Lasik surgery they join the CRSQA, they must meet specific guidelines to keep their CRSQA certification.
So, what does this mean to you?
Every surgeon is held responsible for maintaining a highest level of expertise, this insures you are being treated by a doctor who is meeting all the CRSQA certification criteria.

By checking to see if a surgeon you are considering for Lasik surgery is a member of the CRSQA, you will be assured they have met the guidelines set forth in the membership, and you will have a better chance of being a satisfied Lasik patient.

How Do Eyes Heal After LASIK Surgery?
Suppose, with eyeglasses what will happen if you are dating with the one you admire most? It is not hard to imagine that your dating will be affected by your glasses. Then, why not consider over LASIK surgery that can help you get rid of glasses and regain perfect vision?
If you want to receive such surgery, you should be cautious about several points. To be simple, you should stick to what your eye doctors have suggested. For example, you will feel some discomfort in your eyes after the wearing off numbing medication. However, if you can realize this and do not rub your eyes, your recovery will be quick and safe with less pain.
Such discomfort will disappear quickly. Some special medications will be used, as antibiotics and anti-inflammatory, to reduce the risk of infection and swelling. Of course, after the surgery, your eyes will be very dry, and the eye doctors will give you some drops to maintain moisture.
After the surgery, you are stepping into the healing period, no less than two months. During this period, you should be very careful, such as do no swim; do not rub your eyes, etc. And even at night, an eye patch is still needed for at least one month.
As mentioned above, rubbing is prohibited. This act can affect the healing process. Anyway, you are not suggested to have strenuous sports within two months.
Generally, eyes are unstable after the surgery. Therefore, you should be careful within one to two months before your eyes are stabilized. The reason is there are some common symptoms within this period, such as glare, haloes, etc.
After the healing process, almost all existing symptoms will disappear once your eyes are stabilized.

The IRS Will Allow You to Write Off Your Lasik Surgery Expenses
Lasik treatment is a surgery on the eye that uses lasers to correct vision problems by permanently reshaping the cornea of the eye. The procedure costs about $3000, and even though your insurance company won't pay for it, the IRS will let you write it off.
The IRS contends that Lasik surgery meaningfully promotes the proper function of the body. This is why Lasik surgery is deductible and breast augmentation and teeth whitening are not. Apparently, neither one of these elective procedures promote the proper function of the body.
Because the IRS allows your Lasik procedure to be a tax deduction, you can also deduct expenses related to your Lasik procedure. This means that you can deduct co-pays, medications, and travel to and from the clinic, any hospital food or lodging. You may also deduct Lasik procedure and related expenses for anyone claimed as a dependent on your income taxes.
The IRS allows medical expenses, such as Lasik procedures, to be deducted on Schedule A of form 1040. You should note that only the expenses that exceed 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income can be allowed. The fact that you can include related expenses should help you to grow the numbers closer to qualifying.
No one recommends that you just run off and have Lasik surgery performed in order to get a tax deduction. However, if you know that your deductible medical expenses are approaching the 7.5% of Adjusted Gross Income that makes this deduction possible, and you have eye trouble that causes you to wear glasses, this might be a good opportunity to get your Lasik surgery done and deduct some of the cost from your income tax.
This an example of a good tax strategy that will allow you to receive a deduction on something you may have missed out on previously.

Laser Eye Treatment - Lasik Vs Lasek
If you are considering having laser eye treatment then it's important that you understand the differences between the 2 most popular procedures which are Lasik and Lasek. In some instances your laser eye surgeon may insist that you are only suitable for either Lasik or Lasek based on the findings of the tests carried out during your laser eye surgery consultation. In this situation, you have no option but to go with the procedure that is advised by your surgeon. However, if you are suitable for both types of laser eye treatment, then it is important to understand the key differences between the 2 techniques so you can make an informed decision.
Lasik and Lasek are both types of laser eye treatment and involve reshaping the surface of your eye (cornea) to eliminate the prescription in your glasses or contact lenses. The reason you need glasses in the first place is because the light entering your eye is not focussed precisely onto the retina, which is what is required for perfect vision. If you are long sighted, the light entering your eyes falls behind your retina, whereas if you are short sighted the light entering your eye falls in front of your retina. Both Lasek and Lasik reshape the surface of the eye to ensure that the light is refocused permanently onto the retina.
The key difference between the 2 techniques is the way in which the surgeon accesses the part of your cornea which is to be lasered. During the Lasik procedure, your surgeon creates a flap (thin layer of cornea) using a micro-keratome (surgical blade) thus enabling the surgeon access to the inner layers of your cornea that need to be lasered during the Lasik surgery.
There is however no flap created during the Lasek procedure. Instead, the epithelium (outer corneal layer) is loosened with alcohol and then gently moved to the side. This enables the surgeon access to the inner layers of your cornea that are to be lasered during the Lasek eye surgery. This layer is then replaced back over the eye and smoothed over.
The vast majority of people choose to have Lasik (7x more popular than Lasek) and this is primarily due to the fact that the recovery period following surgery is much quicker when compared with Lasek. Most people can return to work and normal activities the day following Lasik surgery, whereas with Lasek it can be up to 1 week. There is also more discomfort involved with the Lasek procedure which is another reason people usually choose Lasik. People involved in extremely physical jobs or who play contact sports are usually advised to have Lasek. The reason for this is that your cornea is slightly weakened during Lasik as a result of the creation of the flap. There is no flap created during Lasik meaning there is no weakening of the eye.
In summary, Lasik eye surgery is the most common procedure, mainly due to the quick and painless recovery procedure. Lasek may be advisable in certain situations but this will be discussed with you by your laser eye surgeon.
Laser eye treatment is a life changing procedure whether you have lasik or lasek. Although there are laser eye surgery risks which you need to fully understand the chance of being able to rid yourself of glasses or contact lenses is a realistic possibility

Who is Qualified to Do LASIK Eye Surgery?
It is not easy to find an outstanding ophthalmologist to do LASIK eye surgery for you. Though 90% success rate has been reported of LASIK, there are still some risks. What we can do is to try our best to reduce the possibility of risks, including to get good clinic, good ophthalmologist, good equipment and good satisfaction.
A good clinic cannot guarantee 100% surgical success. Because any surgery has potential risks. A good clinic must provide the customers with any possibility that will happen during the surgery and the measurements they will take to deal with the contingency. Only irresponsible clinic promises unrealistic consequences.
A good ophthalmologist must have qualifications which are signs of his professional ability. You can do some investigations on what is the most valuable qualification in this field and check if your ophthalmologist possesses that honor. If he does not have any authoritative qualification, you have to turn to another doctor.
Good equipment is a premise of a success surgery. Because advanced equipments provide more accurate procedures than the inferior ones, and a lot of complications after surgery are reported due to dated equipments. So check out if the clinic uses the up to date equipments before you make a decision.
Good satisfaction means that clinic, ophthalmologist and equipment are all welcome by customers. You must want the most satisfying doctor to do the surgery for you.
Some people provide LASIK eye surgery only to make money without considering the safety of eyes, and they pretend being experts to get people's trust. So it is very significant for you to identify who are good and who are not to make sure you have a successful surgery.

Top 3 Ways to Reduce an Eye Surgeon's Costs For Lasik
In today's recessionary times, where unemployment is up to ten percent in a lot of countries round the world, all of us need to tighten our belts and cut spending. One major cost is on our eye wear, or eye corrective procedures. A lot of buzz surrounds the wonders of Lasik recently, but the procedure does come with substantial costs, including consultations before and after the surgery.
The first method is to continue wearing your eye wear indefinitely. Sure, you will need to expend costs to change and upkeep your eye wear, but the costs are much smaller compared to Lasik. If you want to do Lasik to change the way you look, then my advice is to go for contact lenses, which is my second method. Contact lenses are not seen by others, and nobody can guess that you are wearing corrective eye wear.
The final method is to slowly train your eyes by doing the right exercises, getting enough rest and consuming the right nutritious food that nourishes your eyes. Take a break from the computer screen every hour to rest your eyes, and apply eye drops to them if your eyes feel dry. Eat more eye nutrition foods such as carrot, spinach and melons.
My advice is to totally get rid of your eye wear altogether. I now have perfect vision in my right eye and near perfect in my left. I have searched for natural ways to improve my vision, and have found one that actually works for me. Do check out the scientifically proven, natural and easy way to improve your vision, without burning a hole in your pocket.

The Benefits of LASIK
LASIK eye surgery is the term used for a particular surgical procedure on the cornea or outer layer of the eye, called laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis. The main purpose of this LASIK procedure is to improve refractive errors in the eye. This means persons who have problems with their vision that need to have corrective lenses such as spectacles or contact lenses will, after the procedure, be able to dispense with these aids.
The LASIK procedure is usually done under local anesthetic by an experienced eye surgeon or ophthalmologist, the entire procedure taking not more than 20 minutes.
What are the benefits of LASIK?
The most important immediate benefit is the almost immediate improvement of the eyesight, although the maximum or optimal benefit of this procedure may take up to six months. Gone is the need for spectacles or contact lenses. Gone is the fear of misplacing one's glasses or lenses, and the fear of breaking or ruining them accidentally, a fear only understood by the unfortunate person who has to have them on before he can see anything clearly. After this procedure, there is no need to remember to bring spare pairs of glasses or contact lenses if one goes on a holiday, or to remember to bring along the necessary lens containers and solutions for soaking or cleaning the lenses.
A whole new world of clear vision without glasses is open to the person who has undergone LASIK.
Career paths will broaden to include occupations which at one time tended to favour the non-wearing of glasses, such as modelling, law enforcement, and aviation (both as a pilot as well as cabin crew).
Physical activities which were once off limits for bespectacled persons such as strenuous sports like football or rugby, skydiving, diving, and swimming, all of a sudden become possible.
Self-esteem and self-confidence improve by leaps and bounds, as now one can do a lot of things previously deemed suitable only for persons with good eyesight. The social, personal and professional life of the person with newly-restored vision tends to take a sudden dramatic turn for the better. Things can only look up for the for the person who has had his vision corrected by LASIK eye surgery.

How Lasik Surgery Has Changed the Lives of Artists, Athletes and the Average Joe Working His Job
A large percentage of people need help with their Davis vision whether it is by wearing corrective lenses in the form of glasses or by wearing a variety of different kinds of contact lenses. This has been the only way to create perfect eyesight, by using a lens in front of the eye to see more clearly. One of the biggest medical advances that have happened over the last 15 years is the introduction of an eye surgery known as Lasik. This is a quick outpatient procedure that does not hurt and gives the patient perfect vision never having to wear corrective lenses or eye med VSP again. This surgery has been life changing to so many people and this article will touch on just some of those people it has really helped.
The creative and performing arts hold a lot of people that are passionate about doing their specific type of art. When it comes to the performing arts, however, it is important to not only be good at the artistic talent, but it is important to look a certain way too. This is especially true for actors on movies as well as those performing in a theatre. Typically, glasses are not worn by actors that are performing unless it is part of the character so the only other option has been contact lenses. Because actors that shoot movies are usually there working extremely long 16 and even 18 hour days, contact lenses can get uncomfortable and irritated when worn so long. With the Lasik surgery, this problem is solved.
For people that enjoy athletics and for professional athletes, good vision is a must for their profession. Wearing glasses is difficult and many times not allowed in various sports so like, performing artists, the only option has been contact lenses. There are however, some sports where contact lenses do not work either and that is in water sports. Water polo players and synchronized swimmers do not wear goggles and contact lenses can not get wet, which leaves a person who has poor vision in a predicament for their sport. With the Lasik surgery, they now can see well to play their sports and not worry about water hurting their eyes with contacts in.
Certain jobs also need especially sharp eyesight and some also require wearing special protective eyewear. Having the Lasik surgery would be helpful to those people that work hard physically and need to wear protective eyewear and may also sweat quite a bit like those in construction, highway engineering or tree cutting businesses. Not having to worry about your eye getting irritated or having blurry vision while at work is essential to getting the job done as well as staying safe doing it.
With so many medical advances that continue to change the lives of people today, Lasik surgery certainly ranks at the top of that list. Unfortunately, though not everyone is a good candidate for the surgery and this is something that scientists and doctors are continually trying to change.
Connor R. Sullivan has been searching for Davis vision insurance to add to his employees healthcare plan. He was pleased to know eyemed VSP insurance was a good cost saving benefit to add to the healthcare plan.

How Much is Lasik Eye Surgery Going to Cost Me?
However, there are many factors that will determine how much the surgery will cost. Here are a few examples.
1. the condition of your eyes
The condition of your eyes will play probably the biggest roll in determining how much your surgery will cost. This mainly is due to the fact that your eye surgeon will have to choose from a range of different types of procedures in order to most appropriately treat your vision situation. Examples of the different sorts of laser eye surgeries include Lasik, Custom Lasik and Wavefront Lasik, just to name a few.
2. your location
Lasik eye surgery prices vary, depending upon where you live. In the U.S., for example, you have to take into account the economic scenario in whatever state that you currently reside is. For example, Lasik will probably be more expensive in a more heavily populated state like California than it would be in, say, Wisconsin.
3. the surgeon
Lasik, like many more advanced medical procedures, is an art. And some specialists have more experience than others. Once you have decided to undergo laser eye surgery, it is important to make sure that you choose a reputable company and surgeon. Of course, some will be charging more than others, so you might have to take that into account as well.
4. insurance
Although most medical insurance companies currently do not cover Lasik, many HMO's and PPO's will have contracts with certain clinics in order to provide a reduced rate for you, so be sure to look into that aspect as well when figuring your laser eye surgery costs.
So, confused enough yet? Just want to know the ballpark of what you are looking at paying for Lasik? Well, the average cost of Lasik is about 1000 dollars per eye for standard Lasik (the original, simpler Lasik procedure) and around $2000+ per eye for procedures like Wavefront Lasik (a newer, more advanced option that uses two lasers instead of one). The price, therefore, can vary highly depending on which surgery you should have, and it is important to keep in mind that just because, for example, the older version of Lasik is cheaper, doesn't mean that it is not more appropriate for you simply due to the condition of your eyes; i.e., some people will have better results with the older version than the newer.
So, in summary, laser eye surgery is a highly affordable procedure that can vary in cost depending upon many factors. But, if do all the research you can before you decide to go "under the laser", you have the potential to change your vision for the better with the many advanced new laser techniques of Lasik eye surgery. Good luck!

The Top 3 Vision Problems That Lasik Can Solve
Wearing eye glasses can be a pain sometimes, such as when doing rigorous activities or sports. How about the time when my friend ran for the bus and dropped his glasses shattering the lenses? Lasik is the buzzword nowadays, and the fad is now on 'Lasik vision', or vision corrected by Lasik. What are the top 3 vision problems that can be solved by Lasik?
The first problem is short sightedness. This happens when you can see things near to you, but objects that are far away appear fuzzy and blurry. This is because the image is projected by your eyes' natural lenses in front of the retina, not on the retina. Long sightedness is the other problem that Lasik can solve, and it is a problem where the person cannot see nearby objects very clearly. The final problem is astigmatism, and it is a problem with uneven sharpness of image formed on your retina.
Lasik is generally safe, but it does come with its own set of risks. It can be quite costly as well, taking into account the procedure itself and various pre and post procedure consultations and medications. It is also not a guarantee that your vision will remain sharp for the long term.
The best advice is still to get rid of your glasses, and seek to regain your natural perfect eye sight. I have thrown away my glasses several years back, and was thankful that I am saved from a lifetime of eye wear inconveniences and costs.
I now have perfect vision in my right eye, and near perfect in my left. I have searched for natural ways to improve my vision, and have found one that actually works for me. Do check out the scientifically proven, natural and easy way to improve your vision, without burning a hole in your pocket. Go to the website http://health11.info for more information.

Positive and Negative Reviews of LASIK
As a saying goes, every coin has two sides, opinions on LASIK vary from person to person. Some may hold that LASIK is a miracle that is able to make one see a clearing world waking up one day in the morning; while some may hold that LASIK is not good, complaining some post-operative symptoms.
As the case stands, either positive review or negative review depends on who you ask and no answer is authoritative and in full range for the reason that massive majority of all the LASIK reviews are not only positive but improve a person's quality of life.
People having positive opinions describe LASIK to be wonderful, because having 20/20 vision is just a dream for most Americans who wear glasses. A LASIK surgery makes them no longer have to fumble around for their glasses or contact lenses, and they are able to lead a life as before when they were in good eyesight. The experience of consistent pushing up the glasses on noses and wearing and taking off contacts everyday has gone.
Although LASIK wins a large outpouring of favorable comments, certain amount of risks concerning LASIK are involved and some people give not so good comments. But they just list some events but never describe in details and seldom offer advices. Therefore, as a reporter, I'd like to read more negative reviews and look into some complaints. And if they are truly a problem I will report to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) for solution.
The good news is that majority of the reviews from both the patients and doctor are positive, which demonstrates that LASIK surgery, as a newly emerged in modern times, indeed serves us a lot.

Finance a Lasik Surgery
LASIK, a great medical innovation, rescues people from eyesight and eye problems. Nearly everyone with eye trouble wants to have a LASIK surgery to restore his or her eyesight so as to see our beautiful world without the assistance of eyeglasses and contact lenses. However, a LASIK surgery is usually of high price. Those who are limited in fund may hesitate to have one, and those who determine to have one may concern how to plan on paying for it. Because if you are not cautious in paying it back, you maybe experience a double payment for some invisible interest rates and your expense will ran over the estimate. Fortunately, there are methods in which we can finance it.
You can find a LASIK center which is capable to suggest you several payments that you are supposed to be able to afford and recommend you finance plan that you can work well with. One of the best ways with which the staff in the center may provide to you is to use a flexible spending account. With this account, certain amount of money, paid to the operating surgeon, will be withdrawn from your paycheck every month. This is fairly helpful for those who are going through a health plan.
Another way to finance your operation is to set up a payment plan with your eye doctor. The best thing of this method is that there is supposed to be with no interest, but the point is that you have to persuade your doctor to cooperate with you. If they agree, you can pay back your debt easily.
Thus, if you are planning to go under a LASIK surgery, you should not neglect the payment, which in some degree can save your money.
